"I want to see a lot more farmers. I want more people to be working outside and being the producers, rather than hoping that someone will do it for them"
Jeff Hake is the manager of The Land Connection’s Farmer Training Program. Jeff Hake grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed playing and biking in the nearby state forest. In college, Jeff majored in horticulture, and minored in sustainable agriculture. Jeff worked on a variety of farms in New England after he graduated college. While he was in graduate school at Tufts University, he interned with the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project. At this time, he realized that he wanted to be working with people who wanted to become farmers. Jeff then found out about a small organization that interested him, all the way in Central Illinois -- the Land Connection. Jeff joined the project in 2014 and has been an important member ever since.
