Reverend Willie Williams was born in 1955, in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. He grew up in a family of nine. Growing up, Williams went to a Baptist church, and later he decided to become a minister. As he was learning ministry, he served and trained in the United Methodist Church. Williams first became involved with Habitat for Humanity when a friend asked him to be a board member. Williams has brought faith and ministry to Habitat, as well as support for the program from church members.
